Story Time...
Caught a case of Nostalgia while listening to Mos Def's New Danger album
Setting: Middle School Locker room a few weeks after Christmas Holiday
Time:Gym Class
Story: I'm feeling good got my new chain, walkman cd player, and mos def (the new danger) cd all newly acquired gifts. The locker I used was pretty shady the back was coming off. Any person with a bit of common sense would have thought I probably shouldn't use this locker since it defeats the purpose of security but young gata wasn't thinking straight. Instead I through all my fresh gear in my backpack and went to class... I get back and get changed and then realize that all my new shit is gone. Of course I go to the teacher and he says "What do you want me to do about it?" I haven't worn a chain since then and never got another cd player either. I realized the worth of a chain is not greater than the immense feeling of disappoint and dismay that I felt after I got jacked. I'll stick to cheap handmade bracelets from the Caribbean, livestrong bands, and mp3 players.

Black History
As this is the month of February which happens to be Black History month here in the US of A I thought I would try to enlighten myself on some Black history. Instead of looking at the usual history of blacks in America, I focused on our distant relatives in Africa as they have made significant contributions to the history of black people. I feel that in school we learn an awful lot about the Europe and the US but Africa is unexamined for the most part. So do as I did and open a fucking book.

What you know about death?
So my pops was talking about his age and said that he wanted to live for at least another 20 years. Which seriously opened my eyes to the fact that he is going to die one day. I'm not saying soon but one day. I realized that and it really was a scary thought... given 20 years is a long time still to put a time line on his life was weird and a bit distressing. Basically, what I got from tonight's conversation is just to live and enjoy every single waking minute that you have on earth because it will be over one day. Remember the three things in life that you can count on family, good friends, and death.
